Re: (erielack) How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Exit Route 17 at Olcott Rd./Canal St. Turn right off the ramp, then left
where the road ends. Work your way south until you see the DL&W embankment
through Big Flats. The DL&W station is in the vicinity. I think there is
an asphalt plant or concrete batch plant nearby - look for tall structures
like this. IIRC the station is painted white. I've been there a few times
but can't remember exactly how I got there.

Next time you come I recommend you follow the old Erie between Hornell and
Wellsville, through Almond, Alfred Station, and Andover. Tip Top is near
Andover. Proceeding railroad west, the line goes by (and through) numerous
small lakes between Alfred and Andover. Follow SR 21 south out of Hornell,
to Andover, then head west on SR 417 west to Wellsville.

I went through there just yesterday. Would be a great place to model. The
Wellsville depot is very stately and attractive, though it is beginning to
deteriorate.

It is beautiful country...well worth the trip.
