Re: (erielack) The EL Hot 100...number 4!

Pat, The F89ch was the most numerous lo-bowl deck car with about 3600,
surpassing the Plh10 by approx. 300 cars if you include the Plh10v
Vert-a-Pak. The Exactrail model was of the ACF car, the Alh11v, with split
center sill. According to my records, there were 64 built in 1970, with
superstructure and final assembly by St Louis Car. The P-S version totaled
145 cars, built in 1971-72 with superstructure by W&K. The Vert-a-Pak and
Stack-pack cars did not operate on EL.

Paul,

Thanks for the analysis and comments! When you say the Plh10 was second,
behind the F89ch, what do you mean by that? Second in overall number? It
could be that more Plh10 flats were assigned to service across the EL system
as opposed to the F89ch flats, and that is why more showed up in the consist
sheets.

I was intrigued to hear that some Plh10 flats were in Vert-A-Pac service.
Do you know what flat the Exactrail Vert-A-Pac model is supposed to
represent?
