Re: (erielack) July calendar pictures... better late than never! :)
Excellent description Paul. I wish more of today's mainline freights had
this variety of cars and color schemes. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones
though. Though only running two trains a day, the Finger Lakes Railway can
be seen at the end of my street. They only run mixed freights with no
containers and 95% of the boxcars are second hand but with original paint.
Lots of gons, some tanks and usually a bunch of covered hoppers as well.
Grain sized as well as cement. Hopefully these types of trains will continue
for many years to come. Oh yeah. Until not too long ago, GP9's were the
choice for power here. Now it's GE units but it's still a step back in time.
