Re: (erielack) A stored locomotive in Binghamton?

Rob, good work getting the stuff out of the old station tracks.........when I was there, it looked like it was there for life. Hard to believe how things have changed since the 60s. Too depressing...........I was going thru some old negs & found what I was looking for, some fotos of NKP #756 being serviced at the station then later the same day BLASTING thru Conklin S/B. I'm glad I left when I did after the end of passenger service. I guess I owe a vote of thanks to Sammy Miller that I didn't stay until the bitter end. While I was at Auto-Train, I was able to get J. J. Kraft a job at Sanford - he'd been a yard conductor in Conklin yard & xtra yardmaster too. Anybody out there know what happened to him???? I wonder how many of the guys were able to hang on in the RR up there??

Okay Rob, I know I've seen the last image you sent before anyways. Thanks for your efforts in saving all of the equipment, beats the alternative! Pretty neat it once hauled the Crescent too. Hopefully it can still be restored.

I was one of the people that got the E and the remaining equipment out after a massive effort. The E8 has since gone on to Knoxville, TN, home turf in SR territory. I'm told that it has been stabilized a bit, but last I heard not much else has been done. At least it didn't get a date with the scrapper, though it was close!
