(erielack) Update: Lackawanna Dining Car 470

It has been a while since those of us who started the saga of DL&W 470/ E=
L
770 have updated the EL list.  We are in a bad news-good news situation.

First the bad news: one day before we were scheduled to inspect the 470, =
it
was sold to American Orient Express.  While this will insure that the car=

runs for many years to come, I would suspect it will be heavily modified.=


Now the good news:  We hae located two other diners, one of Erie and the
other of DL&W heritage (both ran though the entire EL long distance
passenger era).  While the details have not been worked out, at least one=

of these cars has been offered to us pending our review.

To those of you who pledged $200 to save the 470, I hope we can count on
you to support saving any EL dining car.  The history and story is still
the same, just a different car.  If you didn't offer a doation the first
time around, think about it now.  When the chance comes we may need to mo=
ve
quickly.
