RE: (erielack) Terminal / shared ownership RR's (e.g. Buffalo Creek, South Buffalo) (slightly off topic)

Bill and Listers:

I'm tending to believe that this is a fan's vehicle with radio, decals etc.
added by him / her.

It was a white late model Ford Explorer, quite new (I would say its less
than 3 yrs. old).

It was not hi-rail equipped, didn't have any (or appeared to have any
apparatus for equipment, etc. on it).

Thanks for the response.

Chris

Is it possible this is a railfan's vehicle, with a big scanner antenna on
top, and a decal stuck on the doors? It could even be a used railroad
vehicle; someone locally had a hi-rail truck for a while (though they had to
add the gear themself to a used CR truck).

CR sport-utes were limited mainly to yard jitneys although I saw a couple of
them hi-rail equipped and used for inspections by the division "brass" (one
of them bare of any logo at all). Most newer work trucks were General
Motors pickups with a utility box, in either a gumball fleet yellow or a
flourescent safety yellow/green. The "sport ute's" were fullsize Chevy
Suburbans... I don't believe anything smaller was practical for them to
own.
