Re: (erielack) Boonton Line Bridge (Was: Preserving history, or trying to at least)

I do remember that bridge! My family would use 202 a lot and during my
first year of teaching I used it traveling from Wayne to Whippany-Park High
school. It was a right angle turn on each side. One morning traffic was
delayed around the bridge because a tractor trailer with a flatbed got hung
up on the bridge. They guy had to keep maneuver back and forth several
times to clear the bridge walls. The concrete on both sides were scared
because of numerous events like this over the years. That bridge was one of
Lackawanna's concrete arch bridges similar to the one on Minnisink Road in
Totowa and out on the Cut-off. They were probably built earlier in the
century. I remember watching Lakeland buses avoid the 202 bridge by
rerouting their runs to the bridge currently used for 202.
